Closed Angeles Crest Highway Portion Now Open [video]
Tue, 26 May 2009In March 2005, approximately a 10-mile stretch on the Angeles Crest Highway was closed due to a major rockslide. In 2006, another storm caused even more damage and delayed the rebuilding efforts that were in progress but now the stretch of road is complete and open for your riding destination and pleasure.

It’s always been a very popular roadway, and it’s always been a roadway that people go out of their way to find. This is a destination point for all over the country and perhaps the world. California Highway Patrol Capt. Jerry Flavin said at the opening ceremony.
The entire repair project cost $10.5 million and was funded by the Federal Highway Administration’s Emergency Relief Program.
